How a Diamond Interacts with Light

A diamond does not create light. It captures, redirects, and releases it.

When a diamond is cut with carefully balanced proportions, light enters through the top of the stone, reflects through the pavilion, and returns through the crown. When the angles are less balanced, some light may escape through the bottom or sides, reducing the diamond’s brightness.
